Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of HST Helper (the "Service"), provided by Andrew Distefano ("we", "us"). When you use the Service you are contracting with Andrew Distefano. By creating an account or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these terms.

The Service

HST Helper lets you scan invoices and receipts, extract sales tax amounts (GST/HST, PST, RST, QST), keep a private ledger, and receive monthly summary spreadsheets. Automated extraction may be inaccurate; you are responsible for reviewing entries before relying on them for tax filings. The Service is not tax, accounting or legal advice.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be of legal age, and if you use the Service for a business you must have authority to bind it. Keep your login credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your information accurate.

Acceptable use

• No unlawful use, fraud, or spam.
• No infringement of intellectual property or uploading content you have no right to use.
• No interference with security, including malware, probing, scraping, reverse engineering, or circumventing limits.
• No resale or redistribution of the Service.

Intellectual property and licence

We retain all rights to the Service, including its software, documentation and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under your plan. You keep ownership of the receipts you upload and grant us a limited licence to store and process them solely to provide the Service.

Payments and subscriptions

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation and refund terms are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. New accounts include a 7-day free trial; paid plans renew automatically until cancelled.

Service level and warranties

We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits, data or goodwill. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of these terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. After termination, your data may be deleted after a reasonable period; contact us to request an export first.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may update these terms and will post changes here.
